Mana recepte kā 7 dienās tikt pie kleitas - Šarlotes audumi

My recipe for getting a dress in 7 days

"I don't have time to sew!" This is something I hear quite often. Both from those aroandd me and from myself.

We have the option to spend our precious hours mindlessly staring at the television, watching endless Tik Tok videos, but there is also the opportunity to create something beautiful for ourselves or our loved ones. And no matter how harsh and unfair it may seem, WE we are the ones who make the decision on where to spend our precious time.

So this year I have decided to be the master of my own time  simply afford to do things that make me happy. Can you find a moment for yourself?

In this article, I want to share my recipe for how I created a beautiful outfit for myself without rushing, peacefully. Maybe it will be useful for you too!

I am not a wonder woman, I am just like most of us - I work at least 8 hours a day, cook food, and take care of three children and pets. What I want to say with this is - a little effort goes a long way for us. THERE is a chance to be happy and find time for the things that make us happy!

Before I start making the dress, I have already planned most of the meals for next week and completed the major house cleaning tasks.

1.DAY - FABRIC SEARCH

I have easily chosen my dress model. This week's dress-SOFIA.

I couldn't choose the fabric for a long time - among my favorites were softened linen - light lavender or cotton poplin - light blue stripes (with this, I could play nicely and create an interesting design).

Finding fabric can become an adventure that takes several days. To truly enjoy your sewn garments, no stage of the process should be rushed, and you should savor every moment.

In my internal struggle for fabric choice, my conservative side won, and so I am sewing from dark blue cotton poplin.

2ND DAY - JUMPING DAY

I printed the pattern and started the gluing work.

I glue the pages in about 20 minutes, if it's your first time - expect around 40 minutes.

Extra pages for the artist.

3RD DAY - WASHING AND CUTTING OF PATTERNS

I washed the fabric in quick mode and cut out the pattern while the food was cooking. It took me about 15 minutes to cut it out.

4. DAY IRONING AND MARKING ON FABRIC

To quickly free up the lunch table - for dinner, I sautéed Hortex frozen vegetables with chicken fillet - fast and healthy.

I ironed the washed fabric. After ironing, I start transferring the pattern onto the fabric. This time I chose instead of chalk white pen.

Time spent - 30 minutes.

5.DAY-CUTTING AND SEWING OF SEAMS

I cut all the details quite quickly, so there was a little time left to sew the seams and glued laminate.
I prepared a spot for tomorrow's big sewing. The ironing board is set up, and the threads are threaded in the sewing machine.

6.DAY-BIG SEWING

All the preparatory work is completed, and I am starting on the big sewing.
On Saturday I have more time. I sewed this dress completely with a sewing machine.-BERNETTE SEW&GO 8, because my trusty Overlock is being serviced. I sew with Amanda Arena threads un Universal needles #80

 1. Shoulder seams are sewn - I am sewing the hem. If you don't know how to sew -here is a good video.

2.I sew the side seams and iron them.

3. I'm working on attaching the steering wheel to the dress.

4. I process seams with an overlock stitch using an Overlock stitch foot (check if your sewing machine comes with one or if you can purchase it) here

This is what the seams look like - in my opinion, not bad. I think I won't be able to live with overlock unprocessed seams, but I am pleasantly surprised at how good the result is.

I sew the lower edge of the skirt.

On this day, the biggest tasks. I won't torture myself anymore and will postpone the other tasks to Sunday.

 7.DAY-LAST TOUCHES

I like to wash it again after sewing to see if any thread has come out or if something needs to be fixed.

I ironed the dress, trimmed the excess threads, sewed on a button, and reinforced the hem better.

So your joy for the accomplished work needs to be documented. :)

In any case, Bella wanted to get there by all means, but it didn't work to persuade her to stay in her spot with treats. So we both document a part of our lives in pictures.

So here is my recipe for getting a dress in seven days.

May it be an easy path to creating a beautiful outfit!
