Cotton jersey is a lightweight, soft, and stretchy fabric that offers both comfort and durability.
With a composition of natural cotton and elastane, this fabric is especially pleasant to wear thanks to cotton’s breathable, gentle qualities, while the elastane adds slight stretch for freedom of movement. It’s ideal for everyday clothing, children’s garments, and sportswear.
Sewing tips:
When sewing with cotton jersey, it’s recommended to use Jersey or Stretch needles, which are specially made for stretchy fabrics. These needles have a rounded tip that allows them to glide between the jersey fibers without damaging the fabric. Needle size usually depends on fabric thickness, but common sizes suitable for cotton jersey are 70/10 or 80/12.
