Cotton jersey (French Terry) is a soft, comfortable, and slightly stretchy fabric with elastane content.
One side of the fabric is smooth, while the other side has a small looped texture that adds extra comfort and warmth.
This fabric is ideal for sportswear, casual outfits, hats, sweaters, trousers, and children's clothing.
French Terry is breathable and provides natural air circulation, making it an excellent choice for both cooler and warmer days. A practical and durable fabric with enough stretch for comfortable everyday wear.
Sewing tips:
When sewing with cotton jersey, it is recommended to use Jersey or Stretch needles if the jersey is very stretchy, it is recommended to use Super Stretch needles, which are specially designed for elastic fabrics. These needles have a rounded tip, allowing them to glide easily between the jersey fibers without damaging the fabric. Needle size is usually 70/10 or 80/12.
