Cotton loop-knit (French Terry) is a soft, comfortable, and slightly stretchy fabric that contains elastane.
On one side the fabric is smooth, while on the other it has a small looped texture that provides extra comfort and warmth.
This fabric is ideal for sportswear, leisurewear, hats, sweaters, trousers, and children's clothing.
Loop-knit is breathable and allows natural air circulation, making it a great choice for both cooler and warmer days. A practical and durable fabric with enough elasticity for comfortable everyday wear.
Sewing tips:
When sewing with cotton knit, it is recommended to use Jersey or Stretch needles. If the knit is very stretchy, it is advisable to use Super Stretch needles, which are specially designed for elastic fabrics. These needles have a rounded tip that allows them to glide easily between the knit fibers without damaging the fabric. Needle size is usually 70/10 or 80/12.
