Cotton jersey (French Terry) is a soft, comfortable, and slightly stretchy fabric with elastane in its composition.
One side of the fabric is smooth, while the other side has a small looped texture that provides extra comfort and warmth.
This fabric is ideal for sportswear, casual outfits, hats, sweaters, trousers, and children's clothing.
Jersey is breathable and provides natural air circulation, making it a great choice for both cooler and warmer days. A practical and durable fabric with enough stretch for comfortable everyday wear.
Sewing tips:
When sewing with cotton jersey, it is recommended to use Jersey or Stretch needles if it is very stretchy jersey, then it is recommended to use Super Stretch needles, which are specially designed for stretch fabrics. These needles have a rounded tip, allowing them to slide easily between the jersey fibers without damaging the fabric. Needle size is usually 70/10 or 80/12.
